The spinning-top sport was once known as a traditional sport.
In ancient times, they made the spinning tops from young coconuts. However, today's children prefer to choose a top made of plastic or iron.
The spinning-top game can educate the younger generation about various virtues, such as historical values, culture, and sportsmanship, in addition to providing amusement. Additionally, this game sharpens focus and perseverance. Additionally, in order to maintain traditional sports, this game is frequently played at certain events, like the 2020 CUP Regent of Bateng's Open Spinning Top Tournament.
The uniqueness of this game makes the regional government of Bangka Belitung Province strive to preserve and socialize it with the people of Indonesia and the world. Until now, there are at least seven countries in Europe and America that have been introduced to the Bangka Belitung spinning-top game, namely France, Colombia, Mexico, the United States, Greece, Hungary, and Italy.
Various festivals and competitions for spinning tops are often held and have become one of the means for promoting tourism in the Bangka Belitung Islands.
